Met up with Dr. Zoidberg, Blacktruck14-sprinkels are for winners and rpM3 this morning. Not a huge turn out but some super nice stuff.
EDIT: Kinja is being a finicky bitch this evening.
All I could think about was Miami Vice and copious amounts of blow.
There was a Recaro carseat on the passenger side.
Working LED Flux Capacitor!
Today I learned the Pantera is powered by Ford.
We weren’t quite sure if this was kit or the real deal.
Was really hoping we could here this fire up or peek under the hood but the owner wasn’t around.
LS swap M3 yo!
Thanks again guys I had fun. We’ll have to do it again!

The only minivan worthy of accolade.

Shit! Missed it again...
Much respect to whoever brought an F-40 out in the rain. #Seattlelyfe

Tell her AMG means “Amazing Minivan Great!”

Kit. The original Cobras never had a passenger-side roll hoop.

It only sprinkled for a few minutes down there but I'm sure that and the long weekend was why there wasn't a huge turn out.

Rarer than the F40.

Pretty much what blacktruck14 thought too. Lots of mismatched colors as well.

I've only seen a few around here. Super rare

Haha I was outside with a weedwacker at the time, the sprinkles definitely didn’t send me running for cover. But to a lot of rare car owners (and everyone from SoCal), it was a downpour. Says a lot about this city that anyone came out at all.

You’ve only seen a few around anywhere. There are under 90 in the US.

Lol I used to live in California. A light sprinkle would get everyone panicking. A Washington man such as myself is not phased by rain. Muahahaha!

The general rule of thumb for shelby cobras is: if you see one in the flesh, it’s a fake, and if you just see one anywhere, it’s a fake, and if they say it’s real, it’s a fake.

Renault and Lancia please! Oh look a row of Ferraris, I always walk by those. F40 is the exception, niiice. SF Oppo people should meet up, Marin C&C is chill and plenty of space, nice guys. The SF one has gone all bro and look at my new McLaren I bought yesterday.

These are cool, but good lord they are definitely not the prettiest thing in the world.

rpM3 and I were looking at this for way to long. At first it seemed like a well done swap but the more we looked the more it seemed half hacked together. If you look at the that strut tower brace you can see where they just cut the bottom off of it to clear the engine, also there was quite a bit of wiring that wasn’t covered. So much potential but the execution good have been way better.

Always love seeing this car when he brings it out. The guy also owns a brown E63 AMG wagon and has owned a ton of AMGs.

There were enough dealer and temporary tags on display at this one that we were starting to suspect that a little of this was going on...if not, say, extended test drives over the weekend.

Tried finding one before we bought our R500, impossible to find. :(

I’m glad you captured the thoroughly pointless Lancia buttress-glass.

These wheels annoyed me. They carbon fiber inserts don’t make them any lighter, just more expensive. I don’t even think they look that good.

blacktruck14 has said all that needs to be said about the workmanship, but this kind of bugged me for another reason (not just because I love the E30 M3...why not do this swap into a dime-a-dozen 318 or 325?): it’s surreal and not really in a good way to hear an (admittedly great-sounding) American V8, look up, and see an E30 M3.

Rolls Royce station wagon peeking in the corner. Also, this was the cleanest old Volvo I’ve ever seen.

What do you want to bet the title was salvage?

So pointless.

Yeah, I’m sure it was, or at least that something bad happened to the original engine. There’s a guy in my neighborhood that had an E30 M3 that always seemed to just sit in his driveway collecting tree leaves and dust...finally saw him outside one day and asked him about it. Turns out it threw a rod and it’s not like you can just order a new E30 M3 engine, so he was having a hard time figuring out what to do with it.

You’re right. Why mess up with the excellent I4 with ITBs when you can get to the same thing at the end with a normal E30.

Even if it is half hacked, it still is awesome.
![]() 05/28/2015 at 23:20 |

The thought process is awesome, but the the whole “someone else’s project” thing rings true on this car. If visible stuff was hacked up, how bad was the not visible stuff. I wanted to love this car when I saw it but, the half assed execution bothered me. If you going to spend the time and money to do, do it right. IMO

There are number of shops on both East and West specializing in rebuilding M3 engines. Not inexpensive, though... Also bad, when M3 engines need attention, usually it’s because they were driven to their death. Therefore, chassis that carried them to their demise are usually also well worn from hard driving. Thus it is rare to find a beautifully kept M3 with an engine problem... However, with original M3 prices climbing steadily, surely it will not take long when complete restorations of ur-M3s will commence, if it has not already.
